Headband
Here you can shop headbands for running and other sports. We have headbands for men and women in all possible colors and shapes. Maybe you are looking for a lined headband that warms during the winter running rounds - you will find such a headband with us. We have lined headbands from Kari Traa, Dobsom, Fischer and Craft and more. We also have narrow headbands from Nike, Under Armor and adidas, if you are going to play sports indoors.
What is a headband?
A headband is a narrow or wide band that you wear around your head to keep your hair from your face while you exercise. A headband and a tiara are not the same thing. A tiara is open at the back of the neck, while a headband encloses the head - like a hat, but without a top! Some headbands also fulfill the function of warming your ears, if you are going to train outdoors. The headbands are usually wide, so that they can cover an entire ear, and sometimes be lined. Depending on what you are going to do in your headband, you may want both a headband with and a headband without lining. A headband with lining is good because it warms up more, but it can also get a little too hot if you keep a high pace during the run. Keep in mind that the neck is one of the places where you sweat the most. Therefore, choose a headband in functional material, so you ensure that it breathes properly and ventilates away excess moisture.
What color should I buy?
Which color to choose on your headband is really a matter of taste. Usually it does not matter, but the most common color is black. A black headband is good because it fits most things, and because it is not so visible if it gets dirty - for example if you run a trail. White headbands are also very nice, but if you are a girl and put on a lot of make-up, it can be a little impractical. Makeup in the form of foundation and bronzer easily discolors on white headbands. Keep in mind that when it comes to accessories, it is always fun to step up your game and dare to use color. If your regular training or running outfit, for example, is very stylish (and maybe even black), then it is a great opportunity to screw it all up with a colorful headband. Usually narrow headbands are more colorful than wide headbands. We recommend that you follow this trend. If you play floorball, football or other team sports, our tip is to try to pick up the details in your match kit and match the headband to them.
Different types of headband
As I said, there are equally different types of headbands. Some are just to keep the hair away from the face, while others are also to warm the head and ears. There are also headbands that are like a sweatband to the material. Then the point is to catch sweat that otherwise flows down into the eyes. The headbands often go by slightly different names, depending on what they are for. The headbands that catch sweat are, as I said, often called just sweatbands and the wide headbands can sometimes be referred to as a buff, even though it may not really be the same thing.
Headband when it's cold outside
When it is cold outside and you are going to run or run an outdoor gym with the team, you need a nice headband that covers your ears. Depending on where in the world you live, the thickness you should look at can vary. If you live high up in the north, we recommend a lined headband, such as those from Kari Traa. The headbands from Kari Traa are made of fine materials and with extra width, so that they really cover the parts of the head that you want to keep warm. If you are worried about getting too sweaty, choose one in synthetic, for example if you are going to run. If, on the other hand, you are going to ski, it may be worth checking out a model in wool. Wool headbands are worse at transporting away sweat, but on the other hand they still retain heat even if they get wet. All materials have their advantages, but one thing is for sure - the headbands from Kari Traa are almost always the most beautiful. Craft and Fischer are two other brands that are good at this with equipment for skiing. Their headbands are often made for high-intensity training and therefore have a maximum moisture dissipation capacity. Of course, their headbands are also suitable for running in the winter.
Difference between headband and buff
Often the slightly wider headbands can sometimes be referred to as a buff. A buff is actually a kind of tube in fabric, which you can fold into either a headband or a hat. A buff can also be pushed down to the neck and act as a scarf. When you ski in the winter or run, a buff is a good alternative, if you want to get a little more out of your headband. Traditionally, a buff, on the other hand, is made of a slightly thinner stretch fabric. This means that if you are extra frozen by yourself, should train low-intensity or if it is a real wolf winter, we still recommend a lined headband.
Narrow headband
The narrow headbands are most often seen on football players, handball players, athletes and other female (but also male athletes). The narrow headbands seldom fulfill any other practical function than that they keep the hair from the eyes. As I said, they do not heat anything, and do not catch sweat as a sweatband does. Most of the narrow headbands in our range come from either Nike or adidas, but there are of course more brands. For men, the headbands from Under Armor are the most popular. If you are going to buy a narrow headband, our tip is to look at some of the more colorful variants. Maybe you want to match it with the soccer shoes, to the floorball club or the water bottle? A little colorful elements are always fun!
Headband and sweatband
Last but not least, we have, as I said, headbands that are like sweatbands. They are most commonly seen on tennis players, and mainly the male tennis players. Such a headband is good if you sweat a lot. It can hurt quite a bit if you happen to get sweat in your eyes, but the biggest problem is of course that it can disturb you in your game if the vision becomes blurred. If you recognize yourself in it, a headband in terry cloth, as sweatbands usually are, is definitely something to test. In addition, these types of headbands are good because they prevent sweat from running down the neck of the shirt, which is good. If your shirt gets wet, you can easily get cold in the breaks between games.
Zlatan band and Björn Borg band
In Sweden, different types of headbands are often nicknamed after famous athletes who have used that type of headband. A headband that also works as a sweatband is usually referred to as a Björn Borg band and a thin headband from, for example, Nike or adidas is usually called a Zlatan band. If you are a 90’s artist, you probably remember the time when all the boys in the class played football with the so-called Zlatan bands on them. They would then sit on the outside of the hair in the neck and not under which headbands traditionally sit. Ideally, both the Zlatan band and the Björn Borg band would be matched to a slightly longer hairstyle that really should have been set up in a tassel.
